Crysis2 is a tripleA first person shooter set in a New York City Armageddon. New York City’s population has been wiped out by an alien bio weapon; and those that survived the initial attack are slowly turning into piles of chunky puke. You play as Alcatraz; a Navy Seal on a recon mission to find out exactly what the heck is going on in NYNY. Not long after you and your squad arrive in New York harbor via submarine are you ambushed by a space ship full of big green men. You are pulled from danger by Prophet, last year’s super solder, who is infected by the plague and needs someone to continue to fight the fine fight in his place. He gives you his nano suit and gives you your first mission “Find Nathan Gould”! For the remainder of the game you will be caught up in a us against you battle with Aliens that want to take over the world and Crynet Enforcement & Local Logistics (Cell) that want your Nano suit!

The nano suit is pretty sweet. It’s a symbiotic AI that essentially gives you the upper hand on invaders. You’re equipped with Stealth Camouflage MGS style, Maximum Armor that increases your Mass and allows you to take more damage at the cost of mobility. Nano Vision, a basic heat sensory visor that allows you to see heat signatures and cloaked enemies. Then there’s Tactical Vision, it’s used for reconnaissance, when equipped all enemies, weapons, and way points are highlighted and you are able to set markers on your next objective. All of these abilities drain your battery and once unequipped you quickly gain a full charge. Your battery is also drained when you dash and Jump high.

When you kill aliens they release spores that your nano suit uses to upgrade. Collect enough spores and you can unlock premium abilities like jumping smashes, improved radar, upgraded stealth, ect… The game is full of variations of Heavy Machine Guns, Pistols, Grenade Launchers, ShotGuns, and Sniper Rifles. Alternative weapons include C4, Grenades and Rocket Launchers. All weapons are pick up and play no customizations available during the campaign.

The game looks great; I haven’t seen water this good outside of Uncharted2. The splash pieces are awesome; you will see New York’s skyscrapers crumble as Giant alien abominations take their places on the skyline. The enemies AI are quite intuitive as the take cover charge and flank as a real opponent would. Looking at the trailers for this game one would think that the protagonist is over powered for the task but I assure you that is not the case. You will find yourself challenged by aliens and Nano suit hunters alike.

Crysis2 has a rich multiplayer that features six game Modes and 12 Maps set across NYNY. Keep it locked here for a full synopsis of it soon.

Synopsis

“Bringing the Crysis franchise to consoles has been a huge achievement for all of us at Crytek,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We are very excited to bring this high quality first person shooter to gamers on multiple platforms while also offering another dimension of gaming with stereoscopic 3D.”

Reviewers around the world have already hailed Crysis 2 as a critical hit, as the game has already earned 15 scores of 90 and above from critics around the world including Official Xbox Magazine (UK) who said the game is “jaw-slackeningly beautiful” and PC Action (Germany), who says Crysis 2 is a “bombastic shooter with great graphics, intelligent enemies and motivating multiplayer”.

In Crysis 2, New York City has been ravaged by a series of climatic disasters and a plague that has struck down on the city’s population with brutal epidemic speed. The aliens have returned, stalking the streets and leaving the city in chaos, its skyline in flames. Set in a world of futuristic warfare where soldiers are not solely reliant on firing rifles and hurling grenades, players are empowered to use New York City as a virtual playground and become the ultimate weapon. Featuring a story penned by award-winning science fiction author Richard Morgan (Altered Carbon), the single player campaign in Crysis 2 has a deep and affecting narrative.

Crysis 2 also includes a fast-paced multiplayer campaign, developed by Crytek UK, Crytek’s specialist multiplayer studio. Crysis 2 multiplayer features six gameplay modes and 12 maps set across recognizable locations in New York City and is built around the unique gameplay of the Nanosuit 2. This gives gamers a fresh setting with an emphasis on vertical gameplay which allows players to strategize, attack and defend from above and below.
