Introduction to: Cynthia’s Nightmare
Hello there readers… I would like to take a few minutes to briefly explain what ”Cynthia’s Nightmare” is and how it came to be.
Cynthia’s Nightmare is a short story that I have been working on for a couple of months. I am planning on posting it here on GamerIndepth in 5 ‘segments’ Starting with the first installment on Sunday, November 6th. It is a’ story of a female gamer named Cynthia, a woman struggling to deal with more than her share of “Hell on Earth”, i.e. physical and emotional abuse, addiction, loss Etc. Yes, a fictional story based on reality. …if you will.
Although some readers may question the topical relevance of a story such as Cynthia’s Nightmare on a video gaming website such as GamerIndepth, let me first explain that once you read the first segment, you will realize that maybe this story has more relevance to OUR world than you may think.
In restrospect, when I was finishing this story, I started to question HOW would I be able to manifest my vision of Cynthia’s Nightmare… would it be as a complete short story or in as few chapters or segments as possible? How would readers react to such a different type of story with such an ending that WILL blow their minds just as some of the most memorable Twilight Zone episodes have done in the past? I also realized that some of the uncomfortable realities of life that plagued Cynthia may in fact ring ‘too close for comfort’ for some readers. This situation made me stop and question the message I was trying to convey in this piece since I am not a big fan of tragic stories. this story culminates into a ‘twisted’ two-fisted punch of an ending that will leave many readers in shock.
This ‘twisted’ ending of Cynthia’s Nightmare is what made this story into a reality since it’s loosely based on a dream I had several months ago. This dream had such an impact on me that I quickly wrote it down as soon as I woke up just so that I wouldn’t forget it. The problem was that this dream was so wildly out of left field that to be able to publish it would require Steven Spielberg’s imagination and pocketbook as well.
Please keep in mind that even though this story was originally written by myself as a ‘screenplay’, it will be published here on GamerIndepth in a more ’condensed’ digest-version which will make it easier to read without investing too much time out of people’s busy schedules.
With that being said, I invite you readers to take a few minutes starting November 6th, 2011 and give Cynthia’s Nightmare a chance. thank you.

That’s why I like this site, it doesn’t have to be just about gaming news. Films, short stories, music and other artistic avenues tie into the culture of gaming. Do your thing man!
