The internet fights back, today is blackout day

Earlier I wrote an article talking about a dangerous law that could very much destroy massive parts of the internet. This bill called the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect Intellectual Properties Act (SOPA & PIPA) would allow corporations and the government to shut down websites no questions asked as well as jail users of the net for years for posting copy written material. Everything from a leaked DVD to a googled image would be fair game.

The bill has met with appropriate resistance, and today some of the Internets biggest sites are making their voice heard. Wikipedia and Google are two of the biggest, Wiki has gone completed black for 24 hours and Google has censored their logo with a link to fight the bill.

This bill must not be allowed to pass. Stand up and make your voice heard.

If you want to contact your local Representative just head to Wikipedia, they have a very easy tool where you can input your Zip code and get links to every method of contact available for your states reps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Find out more about the bill and sign a petition to stop it, as linked by Google. https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Finally do not allow anyone who uses the internet to get by today without hearing about this bill. Facebook about it, Twitter about it, Google+ about it, hell dig up your Myspace account and post about it whatever you have to do.

The government is trying to take away your right to obtain information freely. Fight back against this type of oppressive government by overloading their net with information and ideas that are contrary to Federal acceptance. Anarchy will be the cleanser of oppression! Fight back!
