Contact Trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines (360, PS3, PC)

http://www.lacasadeel.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/aliens_colonial_marines-300x187.jpgRecently the all-new Contact Trailer from SEGA’s upcoming first person shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines was released. The Critically acclaimed studio, Gearbox Software, who was responsible for such hits as Duke Nukem Forever as well as Borderlands, teams up in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to bring us a bone-chilling and blood-curdling suspenseful and adrenaline packed game to add to the already renowned franchise that is ‘Alien‘.

Players will be submerged into the game and pitted against the Xenomorphs, which are known as some of the universe’s massively destructive killing machines. Much better, it seems to promise to not be for the faint of heart or even the gore-phobic. No, this seems to promise a very thin line of what could be narrow success or a bloodbath massacre. The only question being is who will prevail? You, or the Xenomorphs?

‘Alien’, the movie franchise, has went down within the sci-fi horror genre as something to be accounted for to many people. With Aliens: Colonial Marines, the game seems to try to rehash that horror that many felt during some of the movies and jettison the player into a first-person shooting style of gameplay that has been tried before, but this time promises a cinematic themed storyline, as seen in this new trailer. That could quite easily place this game on the list for many gamers as a ‘must-play’.

In a recent Press Release, Sega, described a bit of the game’s main plot by divulging, “Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426. Players lead a group of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew. They will have to fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the universe. Aliens: Colonial Marines features authentic environments, such as the surface of LV-426 and Hadley’s Hope, weapons inspired by the film series and is designed to provide an exhilarating and engaging new chapter in the Aliens universe.”

Unspeakable horrors, movie inspired awesome weapons, deception, anxiety, and cool cinematic cut scenes like shown in the trailer? Yes, please. The only thing left to wonder is how will we be able to pull away? But, watch the trailer and you be the judge. Either way, it seems to be a game at least worth checking out.

I really like GearBox Games and I don’t think Aliens have ever had any great videogames. I hope they are able to breath some life into this series.

That said, Sega hasn’t had a hit since Bayonetta… Maybe its not the Dev but the Publisher rushing the game to market in this particular case? I don’t know but the trailer really looks hot! I’ll give it a rent, Thanks Echo.

Narde, I have to agree with you. The games for the alien franchise have never been up to par with the movies, and even with that being said, the first two alien movies were the best, the third, I have to admit I was not a fan. I think you are right on the money with it not necessarily coming down to the devs where a game is concerened I mean a game is only going to be as good as it is created to be and then ultimately published to be. Although I have to say that this game looks like it might actually revive the franchise in some way. I could be wrong, but the trailer does make it look at least appetizing enough to check out enough to at least form an opinion and see if it is worth buying at the very least. I am the type of gamer that will give everything an equal opportunity. So, I do plan to check it out someway, somehow .. Whether I buy it is a completely different issue. But, I will definitely look into it.
