The Tester Season 3: Episode 3 “You Fight And You Overcome”

Out of all of the contestants this season, I have the most respect for AkilleezMight. I come from a family deeply rooted in the Military. My grandfather was a Staff Sargent in the 82nd Airborne Division. My father was an M.P. in the Army in his younger days. Currently my brother is just finishing up his Tour Of Duty in Afghanistan. Akilleez carries himself as a person with maturity, who shows potential of being a leader. I feel this was especially shown during the challenge when he made sure his entire team made it to their destination, instead of running ahead of everyone and trying to get all of the glory. The other example is when he pulled the team together after and tried to help raise their morale going into the elimination. Although a team may have a strong leader everyone has to put in as much work, while being accountable for their own actions.

With Asuukaa gone, Suzkaiden becomes the target of BurnNibelheim (who I will refer to as Burn) and Krystipryde’s venom. It’s obvious that the pair do not like her. Suzkaiden on this show, seems to have no sense of subtly. At the same token, even if you don’t personally like someone, you can never really know the thought process behind another persons motives for certain, and shouldn’t convince yourself that they are doing things for the wrong reason. People’s reasoning and motives are both a mixture of the facts, and the way they’ve been presented to them, and their own personal experiences. The way you feel something should be, isn’t always how it is. If the contestants could get past that and not concentrate as much on what the next guy is doing, then they will make it to the end.

It seems that RealityPalez gets this. He’s definitely scheming his way to the job by keeping this alliance together with Suzkaiden, while tactfully planning on bringing the weakest links with him in order to breeze through the finish line. The group gathers together to learn of the challenge that lies ahead of them. Uncharted is the theme. Akilleez, Ninjanomyx, Burn, Suzkaiden, and Egoraptor make up the “Tan Team”. Rounding out the “Black Team” is SkyD1ddy, J-Tight, Krystipryde, Kwajamonster, and RealityPalez. While gearing up Burn and Suzkaiden give each other a little hug and seem to squash whatever beef they had. The two teams arrive at their destination and meet up with host Meredith Molinari and the judges. Episode 3′s guest judge was ‘John Garvin’ Creative Dirtector of “Uncharted: Golden Abyss” currently on the PS Vita and the co-creator of the PS1 classic “Syphon Filter”.

While running through an obstacle course carrying a bag full of melons the contestants must make their way over to a catapult, where each member of the team has to launch said melons at a target. Both teams will be timed so whichever of them that finishes the fastest will ultimately be the victor. The prizes are based around Uncharted, with a chance for the winning team to meet the voice of “Nathan Drake”, ‘Nolan North’ and sit down and have a conversation with the talented actor and voice-over artist. Of course the members of the losing team will face elimination. The goal of this challenge seems to not only have the judges looking at the contestants individual prowess, but how they work together and help each other as a team. Not getting this will be one of their downfalls. “Tan Team” were the first to tackle the course. Akilleez started to take control and made one mistake by encouraging Burn that it would be ok if she took on the course without carrying any melons. At that point even if there were only two or three melons in the bag, Burn should have grabbed something. When you’re on a team everyone has to be all in, or you are bound for failure.

While at the catapult Egoraptor easily hit one of the targets and then decided to leave for more ammunition. I can see where that would help, but on the other hand he could have helpped the other team mates who were having trouble launching theirs. Suzkaiden knocked over her target, but mistakenly wasn’t sure if she had really hit the target waisting precious time in the process. Initially Burn had trouble launching her melons which ate up more time. Suzkaiden brazenly stepped in to help. Although her technique was abrasive she seemed to be the only other team member stepping up to help. When Suzkaiden stepped away, Burn was able to hit her target. Ninja and Akilleez quickly take care of things on their end. Finishing things up for the Tan Team.

In true Reality TV fashion, the efforts of the Black Team are edited in a way that seems more dramatic than it probably was. With everything on the shoulders of Krystipryde and she’s nowhere to be found. Within three shots Krysti hit her target. When all was said and done the Black Team won by completing their mission in 8:15s while the Tan Team had a time of 9:10s. Back at the loft Akilleez brought his team together to hash things out and talk before one of them was going to be eliminated. The Black Team got to sit down and have a conversation with Nolan North, who gave them words of encouragement. They also got the chance to be one of the first people to play “Uncharted: Golden Abyss” on the PS Vita before it was launched!

At a heated elimination Burn was called out and immediately, to I think, her detriment started throwing Suzkaiden under the bus without acknowledging her part in the the team’s loss. Krystipryde and Kwajamonster both stepped in to attack Suzkaiden as well. Seeing his alliance burning up in flames in front of his eyes RealityPalez spoke up on Suzkaiden’s behalf. After all of that arguing, Egoraptor was the one who got the boot. In a surprising move the judges weren’t done yet. In a choice between Suzkaiden and Burn. The judges made a decision not based on popularity. With that being said BurnNibelheim was asked to turn in her badge.

The contestants now know that anyone of the could go at any time, so they better be prepared from that point on. Next episode will see a challenge based on “Street Fighter X Tekken” with ‘Seth Killian’ from Capcom as the guest judge.
